Christian Helling and his team of experienced masons, letter cutters and trained architectural stonecutters take the greatest pride in carrying forward the traditional skills and knowledge of their trade.
Following the ancient principles of working stone by hand, and of form and proportion, we create bespoke architectural elements in natural stone, such as hand-cut window and door-surrounds, fireplaces and stairs.
For conservation or heritage projects we reconstruct or replicate original cut stone elements. We source the best possible replacement materials and are strictly guided by historic designs and original toolings in our approach. We understand the importance of copying original lime mortar mixes and we are familiar with the use of hot lime mortars.
Our masons also specialize in the ancient Irish art of drystone walling.
Working in a close relationship with our clients, we design and hand-carve bespoke sculptural pieces, headstones, monuments and name plates.
To us, each cut stone is a unique piece which not only carries the signature of the stonecutter but also embodies the ideas and intentions of all those involved in its creation.
